Shramik Mela 2018 at Mal, Organised by Shri Moloy Ghatak

Shramik Mela 2018 took place in Mal, BDO ground for labours. Shramik Mela has been organized for the first time in Malbazar. It has started on 11th January and had continued till 12th of January. It was organized by honourable Shri Moloy Ghatak (Labour in Charge of Labour Department) and Shri Jakir Hussain. The visiting timing was from 2 pm to 7 pm.

There, inauguration and the main speaker was Bulu Chik Baraik (MLA of Malbazar). Shri Sukra Munda (MLA of Nagrakata), (Chairman of Mal Municipality), Janab Siyad N (IAS) were the special guest on the stage.

 

About Shramik Mela

Shramik Mela is organized every year at different places of West Bengal. West Bengal State Labour Department takes initiative to organize statewide Shramik Mela. Last year it was organized at 36 different places of West Bengal. This Mela runs for 2 days in the month of January.

Discussions on different issues related to labour laws and other aspects of the lives of workers and there will be stalls in the Shramik Mela from where visitors will get aware of the labour laws.

» Benefits For Shramik

From both the organised and unorganised sectors derives the benefits given by the state government to all workers. The State Labour Department has taken a unique initiative of making people aware of the benefits by organising state-wide Shramik Mela.

In addition to providing various benefits to the workers of the organized sectors, the State Labor Department aims to provide Social Freedom Cards to all the 1.5 million workers in the unorganized sector.

After the change of guard in the state, the state labour department has given Social Freedom Cards to nearly 90 lakh workers. Between 2000 and 2011, the previous Left Front government brought only 23 lakh workers from unorganized sector to provide various benefits under this scheme.

Awareness camps on the minimum wages of workers

In addition, they can also learn that what their family members should do while facing an accident while working during their work. There will also be programs like distribution of financial assistance among workers from 61 different unorganized sectors. Awareness camp will also be organized at the Labor Fair about Employment Bank.
